Concerned Citizens of Spring Hill

Spring Hill is one of the fastest growing cities in the US, and five years from now it will be an entirely different place than it is today. Hopefully it is for the better, but that will not be possible without concerned citizens rising up to be heard today. On this blogspot, I will attempt to open a discussion that will take our city to a new level. I look forward to all of your comments in the coming days!

Thanks for turning on the Anonymous post feature. I wasn't really ready to signup for a blog name... I don't even know who I would be.

I'm new to this, but am very interested in participating in some way.

Please continue to let us know how we can help!

(I'll definately be coming to the meeting on Monday evening, but don't know if I'll have anything to really say.)

It is obvious that Mr. Raines has a financial stake in this whole planning commision issue. Is it not a conflict of interest that he is even voting on this? If I were Mr. Raines (which fortunately I am not) I would take the position of "no vote". Any thoughts?

this site is a joke. every few years a new group of people get together and they all have one thing in common they eventually just go away. if you have concerns, contact somebody at the city. don't hang your dirty laundry out in public for everybody to see.

This blog exists because of people like you. It is time for the people to take ownership of their city.

Gorilla/

Don't let people like the one who posted at 10:43 get you down. They have only their selves to blame for keeping the Gorilla chained up in the corner for so long. It's time for that Gorilla to break the chains and go ape/

Don't worry, I am a big Gorilla. I can take it. In prior examples the city population was small and easily controlled. The "Gorilla in the Corner" appears to be growing. In time the issues will be too big to beat down.

As far as this website being a joke. HA HA HA

Enjoy your laughs. And by the way, I have contacted the city, and they will be contacted much more often. If you are opposed to having concerned citizens in your community, I would suggest that you move elsewhere.

It sounds as if "10:43am" was once part of a group that went away.

or part of a group that is going away...

I am unsure what dirty laundry we have as a group who is concerned about our city. I believe the question of Dirty Laundry should be posed for the elected officials of this city. I know of specific incidents that should not have happened, and this is the forum where we will bring those folks down!!!!

The issues that you have posted information about are serious indeed. The supposition that we are taking ownership in our community can definately become a catalyst to unite, however don't loose focus of that primary goal, to unite the minority representation. Continue to post meaningful information and I'd be obliged to participate. If, however, you use this forum solely as a vehicle to vent, you will soon find that your blog has gained a sullied reputation and folks will just as well not waste their time.

Gorilla,

Nice information. Some of the things that people have said about others seems a little strong for my taste. I'll keep stopping by every once in a while to check for new information.

Thanks!

Any specific way we can help?

The easiest way to help right now:
* pay attention to the actions of the BOMA
* attend the monthly BOMA meeting
* if you are comfortable speaking in public, voice your concerns. Remember that this board believes that the citizens are not paying attention and do not care. A response by 50 people goes over much better than 2. So.....
* bring someone with you when you attend the meeting (on Tuesday Jan. 17th)

THANK YOU FOR THE NOTE LEFT ON MY FRONT DOOR TODAY. I AM ENCOURAGED TO SEE THAT OTHERS ARE TRYING TO DO THE RIGHT THING BY COMING TOGETHER AND SHARING OUR CONCERNS. ALL OF THIS IS VERY INTERESTING. THERE IS SO MUCH THAT TO READ TO CATCH UP. MAYBE AFTER I BECOME VERSED ON SOME OF THESE ISSUES, I WILL BE ABLE TO OFFER SOMETHING MORE MEANINGFUL.

UNTIL THEN, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

PS YOU MENTIONED SOMETHING IN YOUR NOTE ABOUT GETTING INVOLVED. WHAT CAN WE DO SPECIFICALLY?

Send me an email and let me know the types of things that you like to do (ie phone calls, letters, email, attend meetings, strategize, etc) Other than that, We need help with showing up at meetings once a month and getting people to meetings once a month.

Once you do that, we can decide where to go from there.

City politics are one thing but you had better keep your eyes on the County elections coming up in August. It is time for a lot of changes and the biggest one that needs changing is the Sheriffs office. He's got to go!
