From the Williamson AM Article:
"As written, this is not a good use of taxpayer dollars," he (Alderman Eliot Mitchell) said.
"I am very comfortable giving these employees this benefit," said Alderman Sharron Cantrell.
That about sums up the difference between those who voted for it and those who voted against it, dosen't it?
Also:
Aldermen also voted to establish a committee to help develop a master plan for the city.
The resolution passed 7-2, with Aldermen Sharron Cantrell and Charles Raines voting against it.
Didn't Alderwoman Pickard vote against it as well?
Anybody hear about the forum Tuesday Night at 6:00 PM at Brentwood Library for Williamson County Commission Candidates?
Here's a link to an aricle that appeared in the Williamson AM on Sunday:
Forum offers chance to learn about 2006 county election
I wonder if any of the candidates from District 3 will be there.
I would like to present a new issue to this site...just to get a feel of what Spring Hill drivers think.
Why does it seem that half of Spring Hill is 20mph? Is there any talk of upping it a bit? I'm sure there are a lot of tickets being written for people going 27! Since there are sidewalks..would it hurt to make at least New Port Royal a 35mph zone? I am interested to hear what you guys think!
Thanks!
Everyone already drives 30 to 35... Why not let everyone drive 50? How'd you like to back your car out of a driveway onto a neighborhood street that it posted at 35? What about sections of Crown Point that don't have sidewalks? What about children and mothers with strollers who walk down this stretch of road because there aren't any sidewalks? What about Buckner Lane in Haynes Crossing???
Anonymous @ 12:12,
Calm down. I thought it was a fair question.
I understand that the event for candidates in Brentwood tomorrow was not publicized untill this past weekend. I don't think it was well known or known at all by most candidates. So who knows how it will go. I think it is something definately needed for the commission seats such as the 3rd seat. I think you could get a great turn out locally as long as it was done at a school or someplace neutral. What do you think?
20 miles per hour is absurd. Port royal should be 35mph.
Raising the speed limit only placates to the convenience of those people who drive on Port Royal Road to cut through neighborhoods.
If the city wants to protect the residents and children of these neighborhoods, they would keep the speed limit at 20mph.
Well, you asked for my opinion. : )
Thank you for having this site to give people the opportunity to share.
If you don't like the 20mph on Port Royal, drive down to Buckner or out to 31 the other way, they're 40 and 45 respectively. Port Royal goes through a neighborhood and should be kept to 30 or below. I know from past experience in my old neighborhood in Tampa, FL. Was set to 35 mph down our street (very similar to Port Royal) and people would do NO LESS THAN 40mph, averaging 45 mph (we had the cops out there many a time in pursuit of speed bumps, needed to justify the expense to the city).
Keep it 20 and if you don't like it, don't drive it.
Kool Aid has a post about the recent Williamson County Election "FORUM":

Glad I didn't waste my time.
Gorilla, when are you going to get some information posted on the County Commission Candidates?
