Well, since the meetings are now being broadcast in Columbia (and no one in the city of Spring Hill is able to see them), we are going to get our hands video as soon as possible each week to show you all various clips as they happen. We do not currently have enough webspace to post entire meetings, but we can update a few clips a week. It has taken us a little time to work out all the bugs involved in posting video, but here are a few from the last meeting for you all to enjoy.
For those of you wondering when the Retirement Health Benefits actually go into effect.
Health Care benefits effective immediately
I find this following quote from the recent Columbia Daily Herald article extremely interesting considering Mr. McCulloch's comments from the BOMA meeting.
"Alderman Brandon McCulloch recommended a 4 percent raise and cautioned against giving employees a raise that could eventually be taken away. He said as living costs increase, city employees could be confident they would receive an annual raise comparable or more than they received the previous year."
Where was all of this caution when dealing with the Health Benefits plan?
Just take them away if it gets too expensive
At least Mrs. Cantrell is comfortable spending our money on this Spring Hill 'TennCare'
It is also nice to know that Mrs. Cantrell has not been victimized by any campaign, especially if being victimized is doing the correct thing for the city.
Victims of a Campaign
Well, at least we don't live in Chicago! (although we will soon, shhhh.)
Comparisons to Mayor Daily of Chicago
I will see you all at the meeting on Monday at 7:00. Something interesting happens every month. In fact, they should sell tickets.

Hallelujah, finally the ignorance of those on the BOMA can be broadcast up close and personal and those who have not attended the meetings can finally see what has infuriated so many citizens of Spring Hill. Why are we just now getting access to these tapes?
Kudos to the Gorilla for helping to make these tapes accessible to the masses. It has been so difficult trying to encapsulate the insanity at these meetings.
Let me talk to a couple of people I know, depending on the size of the meeting after captured I might be able to help out. Do you know what amount of space you'd be looking at?
Well, the clips posted so far (as well a couple not yet posted) take up 7 or 8 mb at medium quality. As we get into more meetings, and longer clips it could climb rapidly, especially if we were to keep the old clips available.
Here is another good clip.
Viola Pickard
Mrs. Pickard, I really do like you and hate to see you get your feelings hurt. I promise you that this site, and this "movement" for redrawing the wards is about making our city more responsive and open to community involvement. It has nothing to do with hurting feelings and threatening city officials.
so, she did not say "I was elected" as was previously reported on this blog. she said "I was appointed". gorilla, please get your facts right before spreading terrible rumors.
What are you talking about. It has been known since the second or third post of this entire blog that Viola Pickard was appointed to the Ward 4 seat.
Under the Unbelievable! post:
In an article on the front page by Nancy Glasscock titled "Mayor Suggests Launching Committee to Study Reapportionment", Viola Pickard was quoted as saying:
"I was elected to represent all of you," she said. "So I get my feelings hurt when someone says I'm not doing that."
Do you think she was misquoted, or is she really that confused? Wasn't she appointed to fill Ted Roop's seat when he moved out of town, after the election?

No, that is exactly what she said at the last BOMA meeting. Pickard needs to check her feelings at the door---for crying out loud, her personal feelings should be the last thing this lady needs to worry about. That was Danny's choice to fill the seat----GOOD PICK DANNY!!
Anon. @ 9:28
As you said in your own post, tenscvols stated that she was elected. I have no control over what people say or think. I am not sure that someone making the mistake of writing elected instead of appointed equals "spreading terrible rumors." As far as being misquoted, you might want to take that up with Nancy Glasscock. I do not believe anyone on this site writes articles for her.
I am not exactly sure how this conversation really changes anything but you are welcome to email Ms. Glasscock with any of your misquote complaints.
Gorilla @ 8:29, et al;
What's wrong with the current wards? I would venture to say that having a political block of 80% of the residents could be a very powerful position. If the political block in ward 2 were well organized, they could easily find 3 candidates to run from wards 1, 3 and 4 in the next election that share in the same political agenda. With 80% of the population voting for these candidates, the destiny of board would be secured.
As Mrs. Pickard says, "It's the democratic way".
Wake up folks,
I think that you are missing the point. This is not about controlling the BOMA. This issue is about creating active involvement and opportunity for all of the people in this city.
As interesting as it might be to recruit members to serve and control the board, the purpose is to make the conversation in this city more interesting and productive. That is done by allowing everyone to have a reasonable shot at representation.
If the issue does not push forward in the next month or two, and the State Legislature does not push this through, we will get to see how a powerful ward could be able to control an election. That may come, but I hope that it does not have to come to that.
Wake up folks at 8:29,
Re-apportionment is about evening out the wards so that the scenario that you have described won't happen. It seems to me that the aldermen in the smaller wards would realize this, and would want to make their wards larger so that the scenario you described could not happen.
