A few changes

Obviously this site has sparked a little bit of interest with one person in particular that seems to want to post over 40 messages in one day. I am all for involvement and good discussion, but I would rather you not decide to cut and paste one article after another into the dialogue box. I would be more than happy to make a separate post if you have specific items that need to be discussed, but placing over 40 messages in one day eliminates true discussion.

Until Chandler can get his keyboard under control I have place a comment moderation feature on the site. I hope that this can be lifted in the near future because I really do not like to limit discussion, but give me a break.

Chandler if you have a problem email me and I will give you a call to chat about this. I truly want both sides of the argument to be represented, but this is getting a little bit ridiculous.

I am going back through all of the comments from earlier today and then I will republish the Top 10 List.

Censorship at its finest. No, I understand. Just give those of us who have an opposing viewpoint equitable space. CA

Chandler,

You might wish you were censored sooner if the mayor decides to sue you for libel. Accusing him of being on the take from HCA could get you into trouble. You might want to make sure you know what you're talking about when you make those kinds of suggestions. One does wonder if you are getting some kind of monetary kickback for all of your "passion." If HCA is such a horrible hospital, people will still travel to WMC (I don't know anyone who would even think of going to MRH) so you and they have nothing to worry about. Its a private hospital with private money lost. Why not let it come to Spring Hill and let the chips fall where they may. Why do you need to be so worked up about it?

Like it or not, medical care is a business and patients are consumers and we want to have choices. If WMC is better than HCA that is what consumers will choose. If your product is so great you won't have to worry about this competitor. Maybe what they offer is much better than what you say and you know it. Maybe that is why you keep standing in the way. If its so rotten, let them build it and lose their money.

I also want to know why you think its so wrong for us to "want" an emergency room for our children. I have driven to the emergency room at WMC twice in 3 years with crying injured children. I can tell you 25 minutes in the car with a screaming, hurt child can give a mother a lot of anxiety and it would have been a relief to know I could have cut that time by 15 minutes or more if there had been an HCA hospital here. Children get hurt and we need something closer for them and I don't care what you say, Anderson.

I have addressed your concerns on my site www.theothersideoftheissue.com

Relative to libel. Simply posing a question is not libel. Additionally, those who choose to be in the public spotlight do so with full knowledge that their every move will be analyzed. I certainly could challenge that those who accuse me of being paid to make my comments would be at just as much risk. CA

One other thing. I think your whole position, and that of many people is "I don't care what you say." This certainly reflects that you do not care about the quality of care you will receive, just as long as you don't have to drive for it. CA

I'm very concerned about the quality of care my family and myself would receive at a hospital. I welcome the Spring Hill hospital, as I'm reasonably certain their nurses won't be preoccupied with thinking up their next torrent of crap to post on a blog...opposing what? A healthcare facility.

No Chandler, we just don't care about what YOU say, as though YOU are the single, all knowing authority about the quality of care we are being offered. It's a private hospital with private money building it and if its awful, and tanks, its no skin off your back. What are you really afraid of, and quit acting like you care so much about the "quality of care" blah, blah, blah. You can still encourage people to choose your favorite hospital, just let us have a chance to choose. You sound like Derrel Cagle with his angry vendetta. Please, go away.

I am certainly not the sole source of evaluating the quality of care that will be given by HCA. I attempted to give you all plenty of other sources, but Gorilla felt that was excessive. DO this, google HCA and Patient care and see what it pulls up. Google Spires and Kansas City. Then see if I am the only one with this viewpoint.

One thing, If Peter Jenkins can play God and know that Mayor Williams would have lived if there had been Hospital in Spring Hill, And if he was trying to tell the truth in some of his statements, which he did not do, Then I wonder how anyone could believe his books. I don't believe his statements and therefore I cannot believe his books. I really think he is trying to fill his pockets.

Do you really want to take on Peter Jenkins? I am curious to know how you would respond if your best friend and neighbor died of a heart attack because he could not receive medical care in a timely manner.

I hope that we will never know how you would respond, and I am sure that Peter does not need the proceeds from you buying his book. (I will say they are quite fine books if you are in for some good reading.)

Let me know when you write your book and I will check it out as well.

anonymous @ 17:39,

Shame on you for making these comments and hiding behind the veil of anonymity.

Gorilla,

Shame on you for allowing these comments to appear on this blog.

Aldermen,

Shame on you for giving yourselves a pay raise when roads in Spring Hill need to be paved.

Unless the comments are excessive and flagrant I try to allow them. Discussion is discussion, anonymous or not. A person that wants to denegrate Peter Jenkins only makes him/herself look like a fool.

As far as the pay raise for Aldermen and the Mayor, GIVE ME A BREAK!

$50 a month... That does not pay for anything associated with the job. Not everyone in this city is able to handle the cost associated with being a public official at $50 dollars a month. Campaigns, phone bills, gas money, computer costs, time away from family, etc are all worth far more that $50 a month.

Please step back for just a minute and think about this before you speak. Put yourself in the shoes of an alderman or mayor and tell me how it is acceptable to LOSE a substantial amount of money to serve your fellow citizens? Something is owed to all of those that take on a public office.

I think that I need to serve out a little advice that I have in the past...
Take a deep breath and relax. Life is really a pretty good thing. AND it is a great time to live in Spring Hill.

FYI, I know Peter Jenkins, and I think that he can take care of himself. If not, I would be happy to come to his defense.
