It is amazing to me that so many people say that a reason to oppose the Hospital in Spring Hill is the lack of a multiple bed Cath Lab.
How in the heck do all of these people around the state of Tennessee survive without a Cath Lab?
Let's look into this argument made by some that the citizens will be dis-serviced by this hospital in Spring Hill not opening with a multiple bed Cath Lab from day one.
Several things about this argument confuse me...
1.) Do we currently have emergency services in our city that I have overlooked? I was not aware that we already had a Cath Lab within this city that we would be removing with the addition of a hospital. ANY service that comes included in this hospital proposal will be an ADDED service to the city. Why would we argue against adding options and services to this city and region?
2.) Is this Certificate of Need by TriStar taking away beds and services from other hospitals? The last time I checked, the answer is no. The Certificate of Need is specifically directed to support the growing community in and around the City of Spring Hill. Neither MRH or WMC has taken into account the true population of the Spring Hill area in their estimates for past additions.
3.) In the event that the hospital is approved, are we required to go exclusively to this hospital? Again, the last time I checked Spring Hill was still located in the USA. Placing a hospital in our city limits does not exclude any of us from traveling to the hospital of our choice when the time comes. It does however give us a close viable option when time is of the essence.
Cath Lab or not, I think I am willing to take my chances. With the addition of a hospital, we will have a place to start and many services will be added throughout the years. When the hospital is finally completed, we will all be in a much better place than we are today, all 45,000 of us by then.

amen. Amen. AMEN!
So many people seem to be missing the point about the services that we will GAIN by having this facility in our community. As someone who has driven her husband to the ER on two separate occasions within the first 18 months of living in this community, I am thrilled to know that emergency services will be located closer than WMC or MRH. (Incidentally, I have driven to both facilities since the beginning of the discussion of whether or not we "need" a hospital and it took me nearly 40 minutes to reach MRH on a Saturday afternoon - 15 miles, according to my odometer - and nearly 30 minutes to reach WMC - also 15 miles.)
Also, like many of the people moving into this community, my husband and I are a "young" family, planning to add more members and it gives us some comfort to know that we would have a hospital located a mere 10 minutes away in the event of another emergency.
Interesting, out of 48 cities with a hospital on the list only 2 have a population greater than Spring Hill.
The community needs to rally around the proposed Spring Hill Hospital. How can you do that? Contact your neighbors, friends, and relatives, write letters of support, visit www.springhilltn.org, sign petitions, request a yard sign, talk to businesses, attend the Certificate of Need hearing, attend the last two Town Hall meetings, contact Mayor Leverette and the Board of Alderman with letters and e-mails of support, write and call your Williamson and Maury County elected officials.
All good ideas however with just about every government in the area against the hospital it seems to me that we need to get some political help from above the county level.
That's exactly what they want us to believe. The voices of 23,000+ residents ought to get the job done! After all, it is our community.
