State Rep Election - Glen Casada

Spring Hill Alternate Questionnaire
for District 63 TN State Representative Candidates

Responses of Rep. Glen Casada (R)

Question 1:
Please prioritize the following future proposed T-DOT projects that affect the Spring Hill region in order of what you feel are priorities. Also provide your understanding of the status for each project, the action that you would propose to see it completed and a realistic estimated completion date:

Question 2:
Is there a proposed project that has not been included in this list?

I will continue my contacts with the Spring Hill elected officials to explore future needs.

Question 3:
It has been said that an additional exit to Interstate 65 would alleviate much of the traffic strain to Highway 31 and would benefit the communities of Southern Williamson County tremendously. Where would you propose be the ideal location of an added exit to Interstate 65?

The elected officials of Thompson Station and Spring Hill along with the legislative delegation of Williamson and Maury Counties will meet with T-DOT and determine where another interchange should be located in southern Williamson County. I think that their needs to be another interchange in the south end of Williamson County, but will rely upon T-DOT engineers for their recommendation.

Question 4:
Some would say that although Williamson County has seen exceptional growth in recent years in comparison to other areas of the state, the amount of state funding for T-DOT projects has not been proportional. What reasons would you attribute to this situation and how would you propose to increase the T-DOT funding that is allocated to projects in our region?

I came into office in 2002. Before this there was no plan to widen I-65 nor Duplex road. Both projects are moving forward in just four short years. Our county has a history of not receiving T-DOT money, but this is changing, and I will continue to work towards getting the needed highway funding from Tennessee

Question 5:
What is your view on illegal immigration and its effect on an industry that is arguably one of Southern Williamson County’s strongest economic industries, the building and housing industry?

Those who break the law must be punished. I co sponsored legislation to fine employers who knowingly hired illegals. I also support doing away with driver license for illgeals.

Question 6:
This past year, the State of Tennessee had a surplus of over $100,000,000 in estimated State Revenue. What programs would you like to see receive additional funding if future surpluses are realized?

I attempted to send the over collections back to the taxpayers. This is an overpayment of taxes by the citizens of Tennessee, and just like overpayment on all purchases, the taxpayers of this state should have had the over collections returned. I favor cutting the sales tax on food as the method of returning the overpayment of taxes.

Question 7:
Would you support a “Jessica’s Law” which would establish a minimum 25-year sentence for anyone convicted of molesting a young child in the state of Tennessee?

Yes, I do favor Jessica’s law, along with tracking devices for convicted child molesters.

Question 8:
If you could say just one thing to convince Williamson County residents to come to the polls, what would it be?

Every vote matters. Look how close the last two presidential elections were. Our government is run by the citizens, if you want a say in the direction that our nation, state and city heads in, you must turn up at the polls and let your voice/vote be heard.

Question 9:
Is there anything else that you would like Spring Hill Alternate readers to know about you or your campaign for TN State Representative?

I want your input and thoughts on State Government. This is why I have personally visited almost every home in Spring Hill. I am an active member of the Spring Hill Chamber of Commerce and attend nearly every function in Spring Hill. Please feel free to contact me at home; 595-8759 or via e-mail at glencasada.com Thank you and it is an honor serving you as your State Representative
