Yea.. I was there. And I learned a lot. The biggest issue we have is that the state of Tennessee relies on the federal government for 90% of our roadbuilding budget. And the only federal representation was a cabin boy from Marsha Blackburn's office who ran for the door before his seat even got warm.
The time has come for the state of Tennessee to claim a sizable portion of the federal gas tax generated in the state of Tennessee. We will then use these funds at our discretion based on our priorities.
As it now stands, those in control of 90% of our budget believe the "bridge to nowhere" has a higher priority than the widening of I-65. And Main Street isn't even on the list of active projects.
Why only to 840 and not down to Saturn Parkway? All this will do is move the bottleneck south a few exits, especially once 840 is completed and the traffic starts flowing across from Memphis.
Oh well, I guess we take what we can get - even though it's still not the best solution.
