All that I can say about this is...at least it is not anonymous. Some people just can't get over themselves. You would think a person with this much experience with attorneys (especially those in the family) would understand the legal system a little bit better than this. You would also think that Mr. Schoenbrodt and Mr. Dinwiddie, and all of the Shannon Glenn residents would understand the LEGAL implications to the actions taken by removing this item as a PUD and filing a lawsuit against the city. I would think that it is now VERY clear that the city CANNOT take a stand specifically against "The Shoppes at Belshire" even if they wanted to. You want to see lawsuits...then you would see lawsuits.
You have tied the city's hands on this one!
Do you want to see how hatred and dissension are fueled? Read through this email and then ask me how much credibility the Informer and it's main author have...
.So, we are stuck with the scoundrel till we get a Mayor with a majority of aldermen who have the backbone to take such action.

Kathy,
Although I am not a blood member of the Irish Clan, I feel like I am an adopted child. I am going to pitch my opinion as an answer to your questions.
Megan, Susan, Patrick and Jerrold did an excellent job of stirring the pot tonight (last night now) at the two meetings at City Hall. Rob kept his mouth shut, well not really. It was obvious from the expression on his face several times, what he was thinking. As for what you can do to let people know about the lack of representation by our elected officials, talk to anyone you know from another subdivision.
Talk to people in Franklin, Columbia, Brentwood, Nashville and anywhere else, about what is going on in Spring Hill. The word will filter back. You can also write letters to the editor of the Williamson AM, Columbia Daily Herald, The Advertiser, The Williamson Herald, and the INFORMER. Get other residents of Spring Hill to sign them with you. There is power in numbers. Even if just the INFORMER publishes them (I am sure that Melissa will), it will get out. My articles are responded to often, but some people probably believe that you can't trust what it in the newspaper. They are more likely to believe what a resident takes the time to write and send in. The pen IS mightier than the sword. When you write, use the names of the Mayor and Aldermen. Elected officials can not sue anyone for what they say about them. My son is an attorney and said that is one of the first things they teach in Law School. Besides, what you say will be the truth anyway.
One of the sad things about our City's Charter, is that there is no provision for recall. Ray Williams and I talked about that on several occasions and, had I been elected mayor in 2005, would have pressed for a change to the charter to include such a procedure. So, we are stuck with the scoundrel till we get a Mayor with a majority of aldermen who have the backbone to take such action. This group would never enact such legislation. They know what would happen. Megan told them tonight what is going to happen. In 2009 we have to have honest, devoted, conscientious candidates from all four wards and someone to start to overcome the destruction of our current mayor. We can't wait till 2009 to start preparing for that. Within the next few weeks, there will be a new website in Spring Hill that does not allow postings by that powerful creature, "anonymous" or people who use cutesy names like "lovespringhill" or "gorillaintheicebox."; sp; They will have to take responsibility for what they say. It will have information about how to register to vote, when and where to vote, voting records of the mayor and aldermen, names and addresses of elected officials from the President to our aldermen. We are going to need a lot of help with this project, but will be careful about who we let get any control of it.
The most important thing is to NOT GIVE UP. Stay angry about this and keep looking for and finding ways to fight back. Complacency is our worst enemy. When Danny and the other incompitents went into office, there was about $6 million in the Spring Hill coffers. Now we are not sure how much is left, but it is certainly no more than about $2.5 million. There is only $1,049.890 left in CDs. Last month's financial report did not disclose how
much was left in the checking accounts and savings accounts. The end of December, it was only $1,994,750. Income was down in January and February and I do not think expenses was down any. We still had to pay the staff, pay the electric bill, and put gasoline in the police cars and other City vehicles.
Tonight, the new City Administrator, Mr. Ken Weaver said that the State Comptroller's audit will be completed in about two weeks. Spring Hill may start being managed by the State after that.
I know I sound like Chicken Little screaming "The sky is falling, the sky is falling." But just remember paranoia is not really paranoia unless what you believe is NOT true.
Keep it stirred,
Charlie Schoenbrodt

It seems Jerrold Swafford (aka Lost Paddler and Shannon Glen resident suing our city) once said on this blog in defending Charlie's vote for Auto Zone when he was on the Planning Commission, in spite of the vocal objections of residents from Tanyard Springs:
"Due to the existing zoning of B4 - when the funding fell through the BOMA (he meant the Planning Commission) had no choice but to approve another business which is within the B4 category (autozone) (apartments)."
Hmm..
I knew there was more behind the scenes of the Shannon Glenn residents. Charlie Schoen(Brat), the losing disgruntled mayoral candidate is leading the charge. He has found a group of individuals to manipulate due to their emotional vulnerability. Any credibility they had with me is shot.
I found a quote from the Mayor that is interesting.
It is taken from the minutes of the Spring Hill Municipal Planning Commission Regular Meeting minutes of Monday, March 14, 2005.I quote from line 98 of Item #7 starting with the 8th word "Mr. Leverette states that he feels not enough has been done to protect the Tanyard Springs Community. He says if he is going to err procedurally he will do it in favor of the Spring Hill citizens every single time."I guess an Auto Zone Store is much more inappropriate than 180 apartment units.Or could it be that Tanyard Springs residents are more important than Shannon Glen residents?I am sure it could not have been that, at that time, he was only Alderman Leverette and was campaigning for election as Mayor.Do we call this a FLIP FLOP?
What do you say now Gorilla? Feel like hiding behind a computer screen?
Signed,
Shannon Glen resident with a huge chip on his sholder.
I will make every effort to not use or visit any business that advertizes in the "Informer". A paper that allows a very negative individual, Schoenbrodt, to solicit and vent his vindictiveness and prints only one side of the story certainly has a hidden agenda.
Individuals such as this do much greater harm to our community and the businesses operating within the community.
I miss Ms. Effie Heiss. She was very proud of the community paper she created. Unfortunately, the "Informer" has declined drastically since her departure.
The local paper "The Advertiser News" is a class act.
You can't be serious...this guy now thinks he is a writer...oh wait a minute he is the same person that said he was a"marriage counselor" yet his own wife did not take his last name...and now in his wise old age he has decided to share his "logic" with some local furry friends and has completely changed his career to a Pet Sitter...that a boy!! you just continue to hang out on the porch and fluff the poodles and calicos while the big dawgs continue to run OUR city...ruff!ruff!
The bottom line in this issue is that Spring Hill does not have the infastructure in place to support the volume of people that would be living in these apartments. That's the bottom line. Why is there so much emotion surrounding who is fighting it? You all need to get over your huge egos and look at the big picture!
If it were purely about traffic and infrastructure, then Shannon Glen should have been up in arms about the 100+ acres of commercial development recently approved across the street from Lowes and next to Campbell Station or the opening of a Super Target and Kohls that will add thousands of cars to highway 31.
I'm sure the residents of Campbell Station and those down by Saturn Parkway feel the same as the Shannon Glen residents about the development at their back doors. Everyone is more passionate and outspoken about issues that affect them directly. That's normal human nature.
I don't think the residents of Shannon Glen are up in arms about businesses next to their property. I believe they are upset that an apartment complex is going to be connected to a quiet street. Growth happens, but the city needs to use a little common sense! It looks like the mayor and alderman stalled enough to let their developer get approved by the planning commission though. You gotta love small town crooked politics!
I have found that when a person has no data to pull from but personal opinion they attack a man's character and integrity and I believe that is called hitting below the belt. Please, please show proof of any of our city's officials benefiting by the growth they are attracting and approving or stop questioning their integrity. If you could be an outsider for one second looking in you would see that all you are saying is: yes, I will shop at Target and I will cut through another subdivision to get to where I need to go but don't even think about coming to my little corner of the world because I am different and I don't deserve to be affected by change unless it is to benefit me, personally. Do you not think big box retail and the things that are coming is not increasing YOUR property value? When you attack another's character instead of his political actions you are really saying I do not have the intelligence to debate on an even playing field so I will hit 'em where it hurts and that is below the belt.
Seriously, if you think this BOMA is crooked, then you don't know a single one of these decent, hardworking men. Until you sit down with Duda or Gram or Mitchell or Hull, then you really shouldn't judge what you don't know. Because if you knew them at all, you would know these are family guys who work hard at their real jobs and spend a WHOLE LOT of time making informed decisions for the city of Spring Hill. How about this...before you call them crooked, take the time to have a 10 minutes conversation with any of these guys and you will see what I mean.
So from the posts here I guess we as citizens are supposed to let the city do whatever they like and just take it as long as it's "legal"? I own a home in the city of Spring Hill, I think the plan for an apartment complex right on Main St sucks personally and for the city in general, but hey...it's America right?!!! PAVE IT ALL BOYS!
What Would Viola/Brandon/Sharon Do?
Gorilla BFF??
Don't persecute the good members of the BOMA simply because the Mayor is corrupt. Duda is a good guy. Maybe he will run for mayor. Duda is twice the man Danny is. He has a spine.
I'm certain that any decision made by the Mayor requires a majority vote of the BOMA or the Planning Commission members. If you look over the records the past three years you will find the majority has sided with the Mayor on many issues . Using your logic many of the past and current Alderman and PC members are corrupt as well.
I agree with an earlier post, "I have found that when a person has no data to pull from but personal opinion they attack a man's character and integrity and I believe that is called hitting below the belt."
The post by Gorilla that started this thread clearly shows there is one individual in this community intent on venting his vindictiveness due to his loss to Mayor Leverette in the 2005 mayoral election.
Personally, I want nothing to do with politics because at some point you will make someone angry and they will lash out with unfounded accusations.
again, if you have proof of corruption produce your privileged information and share with the citizens, we deserve to know...I am guessing you are blowing hot air but if not by all means share-- is it offshore accounts, real estate in Cancun? new vehicles, free home, trips...??
What Would Viola/Brandon/Sharon Do?
I am scared to even know the answer...maybe more purple houses?
Hey anonymous 13 March, 2008 20:41,
If you had any knowledge of what is truly happening in the city you would know that Duda and Leverette almost always vote the same way....which means you are attacking the man and not his political actions and that really means you do not have the intelligence to debate. Any coward can call a man spineless but it takes a little bit more than that to convince people that what you are spewing is the truth. Leverette and Duda's actions speak much louder than your negative remarks and unfounded accusations.
Gorillainthecorner,
Are you aware "Anonymous" on 12 March, 2008 17:01 has plagiarized Charlie word for word in his comments from my neighborhood's message board? Just goes to show the level of unethical behavior you continue to display.
Is the planning commish basing their decisions on a needs or money? with hundreds of homes for sale within the city, empty rental homes, and existing apartments well below full capacity; where is the need for 180 apartment units?
B/c i'm a lazy individual, maybe some one could find out how much money the city stands to make off of the apartments, both initially and yearly thereafter. now lets have someone analyze the financial impact of said apartments. i think one will find that apartments do affect adjacent residential property values(typically in a neg. way), apartments have a higher crime rate and a higher rate of service calls(police, fire, utility, etc.) infrastructure improvements will be required(will it be an additional $25,000 to "study" the traffic flow and stop light timing?). feel free to add any and all related cost assoc. with an apartment complex, any apartment complex within this city or any other city since spring hill in in somewhat of an infancy stage in its development.
will the final amount be in the red or the black?
now feel free to criticize me and or my opinion
"anonymous"(yes i feel the shame hiding behind this signature, but i already told you i'm lazy and this is much easier)
Wow, I just read that the Finance Committee Chairman Ricky Graham has announced that the city has a $1.4 million surplus. Then, the article states that the city has extended a $1 million line of credit, and owes the sewer and water department approximately $3 million that was illegally borrowed. Jeez, sounds like Ricky needs a math lesson. 1.4 minus 3 million equals negative 1.6 million. Not to mention the line of credit, as he stated "Just in case". Sounds like he is not too confident in his numbers.
What about the projects on hold ? Are they truly needed, or were they wasteful from the beginning.
A little different than running a cafeteria, ain't it?
Thanks for reading this,
The Snake in the Grass
To me the major mistake the city planners?? made was to allow residential development directly off main street. It was surely know this was to be the primary commerical cooridor. Adding any more residential (single family or apartments) should not be allowed.
