I have been thinking about this coming election for quite some time and I have finally come to a few conclusions. To make this process as simple as possible, this election comes down to a few very simple questions and they all pertain to our commissioners being held accountable to their opinions and future votes. In District 3, those hotbutton issues are pretty easy to identify.
1.) Spring Hill Hospital
Dustin Dunbar - In favor
PJ Mezera - In favor
Judy Hayes - Has not been able to be reached for comment.
Clyde Lynch - Has not been able to be reached for comment.
I do not think I can personally vote for someone who is most likely agaist the most important issue facing Spring Hill today. It is even more troubling that both Ms. Hayes and Mr. Lynch are so hard to get in contact with if a question needs to be answered. This is an election season when people are looking for a reason to vote for a particular candidate. How tough will it be to come in contact with a particular commissioner when they are elected to a 4 yr term?
2.) Roads
Frankly I do not know how much any of these candidates can do to improve some of our road situations. Most decisions seem to rest with the City and the State.
3.) School Spending and Building
We all know that Spring Hill is going to have to add a tremendous number of classrooms if the projections are correct and we will double in size by 2010. Please go review each of the candidates' questionnaires to decide for yourself who you feel is most able to meet your needs. The money to build and expand is going to have to come from somewhere and I have yet to hear a really good response to the question other than control spending and increase impact fees, which Dunbar, Mezera, and Hayes seem to all be in agreement about. Good luck figuring this one out and deciding who will be most effective. The only candidate (that has responded anyway)that I feel is capable of truly controlling spending is the accountant Dustin Dunbar.
Is it getting simple yet?
Here, lets get to the point and make this REALLY easy.
Until Clyde Lynch or Judy Hayes comes out in public stating that they are in favor of a Spring Hill hospital, there is no way that they can earn my vote. Right now the only choice is Dustin Dunbar and PJ Mezera.
I guess we will see what happens between now and May 2nd!

I heard that there are less then 200 people that have voted at the early voting satelite location in Thompson's Station.
Come on Spring Hill, get out there and vote!
Last day is Thursday from 8:00 to 4:30 at the rescue squad next to the park in Thompson's Station.
This is a supposition. I could be entirely wrong about this, but isn't it awfully curious that we have not heard any opposition yet from our friends to the north regarding HCA's hospital proposal? Could it be that those who are running for re-election and have ties to Williamson Medical Center do not wish to alienate any potential Williamson County Spring Hill voters until after the election May 2'nd? Again I could be wrong, but I predict that the second salvo is coming; and, it will come after May 2'nd. Only then will we find out if our representatives on the Williamson County Commission will truly represent the best interests of their constituents in Spring Hill. Their silence is deafening. My hunch is that the silence will quickly give way to opposition. I could be wrong, but I don't think I am; something to think about as you cast your vote on May 2'nd. It will take the 23,000 citizens of Spring Hill respectfully making their voices heard if this hospital is to become a reality. It will definitively effect the quality of life in our city, as well as our property values. Choose wisely on Tuesday.
The opposition is there - remember the Brentwood hospital fiasco involving Williamson Medical Center?
I'm not sure what Columbia's stake is - *perhaps everybody should have to wait 30 minutes for emergency service*?
