For those of you that enjoy reading letters from past Spring Hill Healthcare supporters who now seem to be opposing true healthcare in Spring Hill. Here is a letter from our Maury County Commissioner Jerry Erwin (who I might add is up for re-election in the near future). I wonder what has changed in his position that has now allowed him to vote recently against a hospital in Spring Hill?
Read it for yourselves...
"As a County Commissioner for the district, I am very supportive of helping Maury Regional Hospital bring diagnostic services to this area. It is important that our many new residents have appropriate healthcare and to be able to obtain the healthcare in the appropriate time. Having to travel to Columbia or Franklin is no longer acceptable."
"Thank you for giving me this opportunity to write my letter in support of Maury Regional Hospital. I am asking that you please approve the CON application so that we can better care for the people in my district."
WOW!
Frankly, this is like shooting fish in a barrel. Again I ask...WHAT HAS CHANGED? Only the population, and it is not going to get any smaller. How can you make the argument that the people do not find it acceptable to drive to Columbia or Franklin for diagnostic services, but they do find it acceptable to drive in the case of an emergency?
Does this make any sense to any of you?

Gorilla, you have out-done yourself.
Gorilla,
are you sending this information onto mayor leverette? They might already have it, but making sure might not be a bad thing. Besides, this will also show that what is being discussed/fought for on this site is truly for the city of Spring Hill and not just someone's personal crusade, etc. And I must second the comment that you have outdoone yourself.
I am not as quick to judge. If you were Jerry Erwin, wouldn't you send a letter in full support of the community that you have dedicated yourself to? Last year when Maury Regional was proposing MRI imaging services to the community, where were you?
I applaud Jerry for supporting the services requested in '05.
I want to know why he does not support the services being requested now? I would probably be willing to bet you 1 billion dollars that if MRH or Williamson were planning to build this hospital instead of HCA Tri-Star, Jerry would support it just as he did previous Certificates of Need.
I also applaud Jerry Irwin for supporting the services in '05. Why can't he support the services of '06? Maybe it is because he is employed by MRH. Is he undedicating himself from the community he has dedicated himself to? Anon. @ 14:25 it appears you are forgetting that Commissioner Irwin voted in favor of opposing the Spring Hill Hospital. I guess dedication on his part is short lived! Commissioner Irwin could rededicate himself by writing a similar letter of support for the Spring Hill Hospital.
Williamson AM article: Maury officials sought health-care facility last year
Letter in support of diagnostic center contradicts current stand.
Asked why Spring Hill should have a diagnostic center but not a hospital, Erwin said, "Both Maury and Williamson have worked to provide care for the citizens of Spring Hill, so why penalize them because another hospital sees the opportunity to come into Spring Hill and make a killing? They didn't want to come in until they could lick the cream off the milk."
The article references another letter from Cindy Williams. She says:
"I am in support of any health-care facility in Spring Hill," Williams said, adding that she had been asked by Maury Regional officials to send the letter in support of its diagnostic center.
"It was basically a form letter and there was no hint of an HCA at that time," she said.
Gorilla, have you seen this letter from Cindy Williams?
