Ask and you shall receive.

Included in this post is the letter of support for the Diagnostic Center by Cindy Williams. Also listed below is also a pretty interesting article in the Williamson AM. I ask you to read both and give me your thoughts. I certainly have a few.

Maury officials sought Spring Hill health-care facility last year

"I am in support of any health-care facility in Spring Hill," Williams said, adding that she had been asked by Maury Regional officials to send the letter in support of its diagnostic center.

"It was basically a form letter and there was no hint of an HCA at that time," she said.

So my questions are...
Now that there is an HCA, are the arguments for medical care in Spring Hill any less important? I would also argue that if this was in fact a "form letter" then MRH also believes that a hospital in Spring Hill is needed (just not a hospital provided by HCA Tri-Star).

Now, for Mr. Erwin.

Asked why Spring Hill should have a diagnostic center but not a hospital, Erwin said, "Both Maury and Williamson have worked to provide care for the citizens of Spring Hill, so why penalize them because another hospital sees the opportunity to come into Spring Hill and make a killing? They didn't want to come in until they could lick the cream off the milk."

Both Maury and Williamson have had multiple opportunities to fill Spring Hill's need for healthcare and ambulance service. They had a chance to "lick all the cream" they could stand. Why is it that AFTER Tri-Star brings a hospital proposal to Spring Hill, and AFTER Tri-Star provides increased ambulance service that MRH and WMC are suddenly interested in adding ambulance care?

And while I am thinking about it, if I were MRH, I would start by keeping those services that you have provided in Spring Hill open after 4:30 PM. It only makes sense that if you are going to try to win over the population by providing band-aids to large problems, at least provide those band-aids from a facility open when the majority of citizens are around. I would also think that the number 1 priority in appeasing a growing community would be increased ambulance service. That should have happened before Tri-Star ever entered the picture.

Now, here is the "form letter" of support from Cindy Williams.

What do you think?

I can't read the letter, even after choosing largest text in the view menu. That has happened with other pro and con postings.

I don't kow what HCA or MRH means.
I need a glossary when you use initials.

Thanks for your comments.

Grandma,
I will look into making the attachments post larger. I do know that you can click on the letter and it will bring it up in a seperate screen. There should be an option to enlarge it from there also. I will look for an easy way to fix the problem and will post again to let you know.

As for initials:
HCA Tri-Star is the company proposing a hospital in Spring Hill.

MRH = Muary Regional Hospital

WMC = Williamson Medical Center

Hope that helps.

By the way...Happy Mother's Day

The article in the Tennessean is interesting indeed and I applaud your efforts to continue illuminating the hypocrisy of our elected officials in their opposition to the proposed hospital.

And I, too, can't help but be irritated by the fact that there is a sign saying that the SH urgent care facility operated by MRH is "now open". They should revise their sign to indicate that "now" doesn't necessarily mean "right now".

Does anyone find it odd that the people leading the charge against this hospital are people who actually have some knowledge of the healthcare system? All the Letters to the Editor, etc, are from people who have knowledge regarding healthcare, not citizens who want a hospital, so they try to justify it with their own incorrect interpretations? July 17th will be a sad day for those who put all their eggs on one basket. As usual, Maury Regional will welcome the prodigal children of Spring Hill back under their umbrella of care. Don't burn too many bridges, as it certainly is not gauranteed that the hospital is coming. St Thomas, Baptist, and Vanderbilt did not oppose this without reason.

Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.

A 'form letter' which mentions your personal experiences in Spring Hill.

Come'on now C, you aren't going to get off that easily.

By the way, I know you are reading this blog, you might wish to respond. I get the feeling that some people misunderstand your intentions.

Anon @ 21:25

You are correct in saying that July 17th might be a bad day. I would assume that by then the attacks against the hospital in Spring Hill will be at a fever pitch.

Luckily July 26th will be a great day when the Certificate of Need is approved because there is a REAL NEED for a hospital in Spring Hill. I am doing a little digging right now, but I can say for certain that Maury Regional AND Williamson Medical also believe that there is a tremendous need for a hospital in the city, they are just unhappy that HCA Tri-Star was the one to pull the trigger!

Has anyone considered that you may NOT get the hospital, or has everyone made up their mind that this is a given?
